Exodus 15:11
Who is like You among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders?
There is a way back for those who feel totally wiped out and destroyed.
Jesus’ death on the cross was your moment of Exodus – your escape from slavery and bondage, and the beginning of your journey to discover the full extent of your new identity in Christ. And the Holy Spirit says to those who feel destroyed and spiritually emaciated:
‘Place your trust in me again. Trust in me alone and in no other god. Repent of taking other idols alongside or in place of me. The sin that has beset you found an opportunity to torment your life when you bowed low to something you should not have kneeled down before.’
But with this sobering message comes fresh hope for you: repent and root out the idols and the things that have followed in behind them. Place the Lord your God as pre-eminent in your life once more – no competition – and you will see that the destroyed places are rebuilt and that your spiritual emaciation is replaced by a healthy satisfaction in the One who provides for your every need.
2 Kings 17:38-41
“Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. Rather, worship the Lord your God; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.” They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices. Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols.
