“But what about you?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?”, Simon Peter answered, “You are
the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16)
I am the Lord who is high above, whose rule is above the earth and the heavens. All things
are within my knowing, for I am the God who sees. Even the very hairs on your head are
numbered, for I am the God of the expanses and of the minute detail. I am the one who
knows every sparrow, and I am the one who fashioned the stars and the heavens. I am the
one who holds all things together, for I am before all and in all.
Today I ask you, “Who do you say I am?”
Activation:
God himself knows every detail of your life and He sees both the strength and fragility of
your faith as it weathers the storms of life. He sees when you hold fast to facets of His nature
revealed to you in the past, and longs to further unveil the hidden depths of who He is. Yet
today, He not only asks, “Who do you say I am?” like He did to Peter, but His voice thunders
over you with the reminder, “I am the Lord.”
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you behold a fresh revelation of His character. For some, this may
be an encouragement to take time to reflect on the names of God and how they deepen this
understanding. Allow the Lord to expand your experience of His lordship and sovereignty
over all things – large or small. He sees, He knows and He is our ever present help. Nothing
is too difficult for our Lord.
Ephesians 1:17-23 (NIV)
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the
Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of
your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has
called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably
great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted
when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly
realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is
invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things
under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his
body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV)
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
