You are one of the many faithful followers who have been climbing high with God, climbing above your earthly circumstances so as to catch a better view of heaven. And you have come to a point where you feel like you are on the edge of things and you are a little bit stuck, not sure what the safest next move is.
But you are not on a dangerous knife-edge! You are on a rim, like the rim of a giant bowl. The rim edge is curved and smooth and does not have obstacles that will trip you up. You are not in peril; you have not climbed this high only to fall back down. Instead, the Spirit of God is urging you to take the plunge and to begin to slide down the steep inside curve of the bowl, into the great lake of adventure that lies below. Others are also sitting around the same rim and are beginning to launch themselves down the side of the bowl: some are going down gingerly, with care; others are careering down the slope with great abandon. But the speed doesn’t matter so much because the slope has its own momentum – everyone who has climbed up high and who then takes the slide towards the ‘great lake of adventure’ is going to plunge in deep at the same pace.
God has so much in store for you. You’ve come this far and climbed this high. It’s time to let go of the edge and begin to slide into the deep adventure that He has for you!
Psalm 20:6-8
Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
