Isaiah 49:8-10
This is what the Lord says: “In the time of my favour I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’ “They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill. They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.
Do you recall the old chorus, ‘This is the day, this is the day – that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made. We will rejoice, we will rejoice – and be glad in it, and be glad in it’?
Were those simpler times, or was it just that we were we younger and a little less cynical, a little less battle-weary? Well it is time to return to those cheerful sentiments, for this is STILL the day that the Lord has made! Smile!
For he says, “In the time of my favour I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
You were made to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. If you know Jesus, you are in His day of salvation, the time of His favour – NOW – not some day in the distant future! These are the days, the times, the season we live in! So let’s rejoice! Let’s join with the psalmist and declare:
I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.
Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter.
I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:17-24)
Chose to wear a smile today!
