Jesus invites you to come and sit with Him for a while. He has a place for you to sit with Him, a peaceful and restful place, full of light and brimming with life; a place where weary souls find rest.
It’s like a garden, enclosed by a wooden fence. In the garden is a tree and under the tree a wooden bench. Jesus is sitting on the bench and as people approach the garden gate He turns with love in His eyes and beckons them to enter.
He has created this garden to illustrate the intimate place of solace that His people can find in Him. Saviour Jesus sees the burdens that weigh you down, that halt you and that weary you. He doesn’t want you to remain this way and so He gives you this image of a place that you can come to and be refreshed in His presence.
Jesus calls out to you in a quiet but steady voice, ‘Come in my beloved, I’m waiting here just for you. Come and tell me what troubles your soul. Let me take off your heavy burdens and give you peace again.’
Isaiah 58:11
And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
