The freshly baked loaf – your Lion Bites word for today

A rich, fragrant loaf of crusty bread is being offered to you. The sweet scent of this freshly baked bread and the pleasing crunch as it is broken overpowers the senses and, as the loaf nears, its warmth brings a reassurance and belonging – home. There is nothing artificial in this bread; it is thoroughly wholesome and natural; it is nutritious; it is filling. It is good to taste. Goodness.

‘Take and eat’, says a voice, and suddenly you look to the hand that is offering you the bread. Jesus smiles – it is the Lord and He is speaking to you!

There is a fresh invitation to come back to His table and eat His bread, His body. Reject everything else that is being offered to you because only what He gives you is goodness and life. All other things will not satisfy and will make you sick. They are artificial substitutes in comparison to the richness, goodness and abundance of what He offers. There is life in the bread He offers. He invites you again, ‘Take, eat!’

John 6:35;51
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

…I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.
