I heard the Lord say clearly “return to your first love!”
God wants you to look back with joy at your early relationship with Him, remembering the day you met Him, the first moment you felt Him and your first works in which you were engaged. Recognise and remember what was deposited in your heart at the beginning of your union and deliberately set your heart to pursue and recapture this fiery passion; that explosion of love which found expressions in the abandoned adventures you enjoyed with God.
Was the first cry of your newly saved heart for souls? Was it for missions? Or for teaching the word of God and for ministry in the church? God is wonderfully revisiting your core calling, that unique and carefully woven spiritual DNA He has placed within you.
He says “stir up the waters of your first love. As you do so, you will be surprised by the increased outpouring of my spirit and grace upon you as you return to your core.”
More than ever before souls need saving, the word needs preaching, missionaries need sending, and the Kingdom needs advancing. May the response of your heart be “Lord, I’m running back to my first love, I’m stirring up my core calling, and I believe for the increase you have promised!”
Today, ask God to fill you with His Spirit and fire so that all fear of man may fall from you. Pray that you are enabled to walk in the fullness of your first love, and first works for something wonderful is about to happen in your life.
Isaiah 30:15
In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.
