“Do not look at the temporal things and be swayed by them but fix your eyes on eternity. Fortresses are built and fall into ruin, cities are formed and then fade away yet my city is eternal and cannot be shaken. Nations rise and fall, the plans of men fade into time, yet my works are eternal and my words always fulfil their purpose. The passions of man flair up and then are snuffed out, yet my passion blazes and never fades. The rivers of this earth change their course and dry up, yet the river of my love only cuts a deeper channel, flows consistently and can be relied upon.
Dwell on the eternal and do not be distracted by things that are demanding your attention but instead turn your eyes upon me and be filled with a joy so deep it will overcome all!”
2 Corinthians 4:18
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
