Mourn with Me

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4).

The Lord says: “I see the burden of grief that you carry. ‘How so, Lord?’, you ask, ‘Everything with me is fine’. But I see into the depths of your heart and there are griefs and losses you have not resolved. They lie dormant but will awake when you are hard-pressed and weary. There are relational hurts that caused pain; missed opportunities that caused regret; passions that were snuffed out; ideas that were sat on and visions that were lost.

You are hurtling down a highway of self-denial, ignoring the stop signs and the exits where you could find solace and healing. How can you bring My joy and peace to people when your heart mourns? I want you to learn how to lament to Me so that I can bring you the healing and peace that your heart cries out for.

Consider my servant David. He suffered much loss – his liberty, his king, his best friend, his family, his integrity, his kingdom, his son, his military anointing. But he never lost I AM, his God. His psalms are full of his raw feelings of grief and loss and reveal how he found comfort in Me.”

Activation:

God wants to take our burdens of grief. He wants us to be emotionally honest with Him. He needs us to be healthy – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Write a letter to God and pour out your feelings of loss and sorrow, as David did. Read a psalm of lament to see how he found comfort at times of mourning (Examples: Psalms 6; 13; 25:16-21; 31:9-24; 42; 43; 56:8-16). With the help of Holy Spirit, make an agreement with the Lord to have regular checkups where you can safely express your true emotions of loss and find the comfort He wants to give you.

Isaiah 61:1-3 (NIV)

‘The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim

good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom

for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the

Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide

for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil

of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.’

Revelation 21:4 (NIV)

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
