Mentored by the Lord – your Lion Bites word for today

School’s not out. Term’s not over. From now on you are on placement with me, watching carefully how I act, how I order things. You are my apprentice.

I want you to get inside my mind and heart. My plan is that you learn my ways, that you dig deep into my word, that you listen to my instruction. That you truly become a disciple, rather than a reader of my word only, gathering truths that you don’t know how to use.

I want you to set aside all your preconceptions about me and be open to hear… really hear from me. That will mean time. This is training time! Would you seek me at every point in your day, to ask how I see the situations you face. Learn wisdom and grace-filled speech, see how I choose mercy and forgiveness.  I want you to learn how I do things. I want you to walk your life alongside me, so that I can mentor you, show you how to do it, correct your path, speak encouraging words to you, celebrate you. So let’s get going!

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.  “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”  At once they left their nets and followed him.
