Generosity

I am a generous, abundant father, one who gives without limit.  I have not held anything back.  I even gave my most precious, beloved son for you.  The kingdom family is a generous, giving family, giving to the point of sacrifice, even sacrifice of our whole life.  This is the family you have joined, the family you have been grafted into.

As you increasingly reflect the fullness of who I am, know that I am making you to be a generous people.  In this season, when the earthly wisdom is to “tighten your belt”, hoard, save and conserve, I am asking you to give.  The strategy against the enemy’s squeeze on your life at this time is to give generously out of the abundance I have lavished upon you.

Give of your time, your food, your home, your money, your energy, and yourself.  This is not a time to hold back.  This is a time for whole-hearted giving, for you are to be a whole-hearted people, reflecting the wholeness of my heart and the unstinting generosity of my character.

Activation: Ask God to help you respond to this word with heavenly wisdom, not earthly wisdom, and ask Him to show you when, where, and how to give.  Ask him to deal with the issues of your heart that lead you into limitation and a mindset of lack.  Thank him for His abundance, His blessing in your life – ask Him to help you see it.

Luke 6:38 (NIV)

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Matthew 5:40-42 (NIV)

And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

2 Corinthians 9:6-11 (NIV)

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
