Embrace the New Wine

The Lord says, “Why do you hold onto the old wineskins and old vessels that carried the wine of yesterday? Yes, there was a time and purpose for them, but not today. The old vessels are not constructed in a way that’s conducive to or strong enough to carry the new thing that I am doing and pouring out. Now is the time for the new wine, and that requires new vessels that can contain it.

In this hour, I am breaking the old vessels to make way for the new. It is time to abandon the status quo and business as usual. Position yourself to receive the new – this means new ideas, strategies, structures, and innovations.

Look forward, and do not long for the old and outdated. Remember Lot’s wife – her nostalgia for the old and looking back caused her to be fossilised in the past. Learn from her error and move forward with hope and expectation for what lies ahead, and for what I am doing today.”

Activation:

Consider dedicating a specific time for prayer and fasting. Let the Lord determine the length and type of fasting. As you enter into this time, position your heart to deepen your connection with the Lord and seek His direction for embracing the new. Use this time of prayer and fasting as an opportunity to work together with the Holy Spirit to help you identify where you are tethered to the past. As He reveals these things to you, surrender the old ways and patterns to Him as you open your heart to the transformation that He desires to bring. This will help to prepare you to embrace and carry the new thing that God is doing.

Proverbs 4:25 (NLT)

Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.

Luke 17:32 (NIV)

Remember Lot’s wife.

Luke 5:37-39 (NKJV)

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’
