I heard the Lord say that you have clung on too long in the same position and that it is now time to reach for the ‘handholds’ and ‘footholds’ that are above and to your side. Just as a rock climber might hold onto the rockface by his fingers and toes, so you have clung on – sometimes in desperation as much as in true hope. But the Spirit says, ‘My intention is that you stretch higher and move upwards, not that you get weary and strained hanging on in that one position.’
As a climber reaches for the next holds he must shift his weight. So also for you as you make a move – you must trust that you will not slip as you shift weight, so that you can reach higher, higher up to the holds that God has ordained for you.
And know today that He does have these footholds in place for you. You will be able to grasp them with relative ease, after you have made the weight shift. So focus on this today – ask, ‘Holy Spirit, where must I shift my weight, so that I might be able to reach higher and move out from this position I have been in too long?’
Habukkuk 3:18-19
yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
