Come Outside

My child, take a walk outside with me and let me show off to you the beauty of my creation. See how I have fashioned the trees, flowers, and leaves with the most intricate detail, yet with such ease.  Listen to the birds sing and take in the vibrant colours that surround you.

Worship Me.

Breathe in deeply.

Rest in Me.

I AM your loving Heavenly Father who longs to give you good gifts and extravagantly meet your daily needs. If I can take care of the smallest sparrow, how much more will I lavish my love upon you. I know your every need.

Give me your cares.

The culture and narrative of the world will try to inform you. I say, tomorrow’s concerns don’t belong to today.

Set your heart’s attention on the Kingdom of Heaven and things that will last.  Pursue my righteousness and priorities for your life.  I have so much more for you than fleeting pleasures which won’t satisfy.

Walk with me, talk with me, and keep your fixed eyes on me.

Activation: Spend time in worship and ask Holy Spirit to show you things that are pulling you in different directions. Hand them over to God in prayer.  If you can, go for a walk in the outdoors or find a thing of beauty and allow God to minister His love and care.

Matthew 6:30-34 (MSG)

If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT)

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
