My child, I want to teach you the finer points in how to ‘be’ before me, setting aside all that you need to ‘do’ and allowing us to just ‘be’ together. It’s not always as easy as it sounds but your well-being, your peace of mind, your very life depends on it. You need to be with me, you need to connect and no amount of ‘doing’ will achieve that for you. So come and talk to me and hear my words. They carry life. Let the other things wait. For you have not heard all that I have to say to you. You have not learned from me how deeply and completely I love you. You have not received all the revelation that I want to give you. All of that comes in our communication, that beautiful communication that grows with practice and time.
Luke 10:38-41
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
