Christ has come to bring a healing to the aches and pains that have come from running the race. There has been a cost to you, but will you allow Him now to bring an easing to your joints?
But partner in this too: change your posture, adjust the way you walk and lift the height of your gaze – so that you do not end up bowed again with the same pains and under similar crippling oppressions as before.
Picture it like this: a man healed of a limp will start to limp again if he insists on walking on uneven ground. He must choose to walk on the right path. Similarly, a woman bowed, whose back is straightened by healing, will find herself bent again if she insists on focussing her gaze downwards or even backwards, rather than gazing towards Heaven.
So, look to the Lord for your healing – and do not allow your gaze to flinch away from Him. Allow His words to be like a roadmap for the journey of healing ahead:
Proverbs 4:18-26
The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
