Matthew 3:11b / Luke 3:16
He [Jesus] will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
It was the fire of God that the angel placed on Isaiah’s lips and purified the prophet’s mouth to prepare him for his ministry. (Isaiah 6:5-7) It was the fire of God that fell and consumed the sacrifice on Elijah’s altar. (1 Kings 18:38)
And the Lord’s desire is to fill you with His power by the Holy Spirit so that you might be an effective witness for Him …you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
He wants you to be filled with that fire of His – that same fire that burned on Isaiah’s coals, on Elijah’s stones and that rested on each of the believers in the upper room, so that it may explode forth out of you to powerfully bless the world and those around about you!
