Matthew 7:14
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
I saw believers in battle trenches, keeping low to avoid enemy fire. The trenches circled round one side of the battlefield, opposite enemy territory. Some believers were huddled together, others walked around the trench network. Everyone seemed busy and occupied by the stresses of war.
The Lord is pleased that you are on your feet, willing to fight and ready to move. But now listen to the Holy Spirit as He urges you on, up and out of the trench and onto the surface of the battlefield.
He says, ‘My warrior, I did not ask that you would stay in the battle trench, going around and around in the mud and enduring the stress of constant fire. The trench is on your side and so you will never truly see breakthrough in this battle if you remain embedded here. If you want to enforce the victory you will need to go up and out.’
So, mighty warrior, it is time to remind yourself that you wear the armour of God and that Jesus Christ goes ahead of you. You can climb out of the trench and step up onto the battlefield. Advance and do not fear your foes, for their fiery darts will be extinguished. Do not heed the enemy’s shouts and taunts – take no prisoners as you walk forward on the path that God will illuminate for you.
Ephesians 6:16
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
