The joy of the Lord does not always ‘make sense’ to us. It is not happiness or contentment. It doesn’t rely on ‘good days’ or circumstances going well. It does not depend on your mood or physical wellness. It is also not silly or weak, for it is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The Lord says to you, “Do not allow our enemy to steal your joy any longer. Look around you and notice the pattern of ebb and flow in my joy. Let’s bring that to an end now and allow my Spirit to fully flow, so that you can experience my joy completely. Be thankful and rejoice, let my joy be your strength!”
Nehemiah 8:10
Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
