Revival begins with you.
As you walk along, the river is bursting its banks and overflowing onto the pathways beside it. Some people rush away from this flood, to avoid getting their feet wet. An official warns people to stay away, ‘Beware’, he cautions, ‘this could be dangerous’. People rush away from the river and towards the busy chaos of the city streets.
But you choose to walk beside the flooding river, where your feet will get wet and your shoes soaked through. You have put your toes in the river and you’re not afraid. You beckon your family and those entrusted to you to come closer. You call out, ‘Come over here, let’s paddle and keep close to the river! There’s no need to fear these rising waters!’
And God delights in His children of adventure, who are walking close to the rising waters. Show the way to your family, friends and fellowship. Show them how to dip their toes in the river and get their feet wet. Forget all the other unholy noises and panics and go with this flow. Allow the Holy Spirit to soak you through and allow revival to begin with you. Not ‘out there’, but with you.
Joshua 24:15
“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
