*John 15:13*
*Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s
friends.*
We rejoice in what Christ has done for us. We are His friends and He laid
down His life for us, so that we might be saved and free from the chains of
death, enjoying our eternal life with Him. Thank you Jesus! And, because of
this great love, it’s almost ‘easy’ for us to respond to Him, ‘*We would
die for you Jesus! We would lay our lives down for you Jesus*’.
But today His Spirit challenges us to go *much* further and reminds us of
His command to us: ‘Love each other as I have loved you’. He wants us to
lay down our lives for our friends. Our commander-in-chief gives us the
order: lay down your lives for your friends.
Invite the Holy Spirit to illuminate the answers to the following questions

‘What needs to die in me today, for the sake of my friends?’
‘Am I holding onto something so tightly in my life that I cannot love as
Christ loves me?’
‘Do I need to lay down what is in my current life and pick up a new one, so
that I might truly love my friends as God has commanded me?’
*1 John 3:16*
*We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we
also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.*
