Philippians 2:16
Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.
‘Be deliberate in your pursuit’, urges the Holy Spirit. The race is on and you’re in hot pursuit of your team mate, Jesus Christ! Don’t just meander along the road but instead fix your eyes on the prize ahead. How do you want to cross the finish line? Let the Holy Spirit give you a vision of that glorious day and that wonderful time. Ask yourself, when you finish this race, how do you want to look? What things will be in your hands? What will you be wearing? What testimonies do you want to be laying at the feet of Jesus, your great team captain, on that day?
Now, start to plan out the race – what are you going to do, what are you going to change, what are you going to pick up and what are you going to let go? Do this now, so that you can be confident that you’re running down the track in the manner that will take you over the finish line in the way that you’ve just pictured. That you will finish and cross the line is in no doubt, but be deliberate in your pursuit.
1 Corinthians 9:24
Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!
