When a coiled wire, cable or hose pipe becomes over-knotted or tangled up in a tight mess it is not wise to keep twisting and turning, hoping for a miraculous undoing. Instead, a good solution is to stop, pause and lay the cable out somewhere warm, to allow a softening and flexibility to return. Then, one would sometimes hold an end up high and allow the kinks and coils to naturally unwind.
This is how the Holy Spirit would have you be as you review and take stock of the past year. Where you see that you have become forced into knots and the path is not as straight (or straightforward) as you thought it would be, don’t keep trying to navigate your way out of the tangled maze, hoping for a miraculous intervention that will smooth everything out. All you will do is stress, tighten and entangle yourself all the more!
God is perfectly able to intervene in an instant but He has a better way right now: Stop. Pause. Lay yourself out as flat as you can and allow yourself to be in the brightness of God’s light, His presence. Make yourself available to the radiance of His truth, love and revelation. Then, fix your gaze as high as it can go – to the High King of Heaven. Ask for the high-up, heavenly perspective on things. As you keep your focus high, everything else will then begin to supernaturally uncoil and unwind.
Take the time with Him to sort things out before you proceed any further. You’ll make the time back (and much more) once you are in a place to advance with a fresh, heavenly perspective.
Luke 12:29-32
And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
